With the SUV craze taking over the world like a burning fever, Mercedes-Benz is said to be considering a Maybach SUV. While there has also been news of Rolls-Royce and Lamborghini deliberating the addition of SUVs, Bentley already has made its intentions clear with the Bentayga. So a the reports of an excessively-luxurious Maybach SUV doesn't exactly come as a surprise now.
The aforementioned Mercedes-Maybach model be based on the Mercedes-Benz GLS - facelift of the current GL-Class.
Wolf Dieter-Kurz, Vice President, Mercedes-Benz, said it will most probably be a hybrid - an adaptation of the the GLE 500e powertrain. On the exteriors, expect the car to come adorned with the usual array of provisions expected of a Maybach - typical grille, wheels along with other insignia. As far as dimensions are concerned, the model is likely to get a longer wheelbase as compared to the GLS. This, in turn, means an even more spacious cabin.
Interestingly, Wolf Dieter-Kurz commented that the company's other models may also benefit from the Maybach treatment.
